The Public Computing Services (PCS) mission is to put the power of information at everyone's fingertips. Our 'model' is to empower public charities so that they can they can provide information services to their clients. We also strive to make it easier for charities to do their jobs, by enhancing their information technology.

Who We Are

Public Computing Services supports our community by providing computing services to people that couldn't otherwise afford them. We are a Minnesota nonprofit organization created to distribute computing services primarily through public charities, while helping those organizations conquer their own technology needs.

  • Provide underserved clients with secure storage to save wills, resumes, homework, etc.?
  • Provide free tools (word processors, templates, spreadsheets, etc.) to create them?
  • Help clients learn to use computing services in their own language?
  • Create or enhance your own web presence?

What We Offer

We know that most public charities can't afford much technology and need to devote all of their resources to their missions. They try to make do with donated equipment and hope for volunteers that know just enough to keep it working. This tends to leave vital data at risk. PCS provides 'communal' technology resources and expertise to secure everyone's information.

We also know that most charities work with under-served populations that have little or no access to computing services. Our hosting packages make it possible for charities to 'distribute' computing services, safely and securely, to any client from any internet connection. If they can find their way to a library, they can have almost as much computing power as a small business.

PCS offers three levels to support a charity's needs and their clients'. We can also customize our offerings to provide a unique solution.

Standard Level
Provides basic functions for running a charity on the Web, including Web site, e-mail, member/client database, online ordering, domain registration, and support. More important, perhaps, all of our packages let you provide accounts for your clients so that that can create and save their own files (wills, resumes, etc.), access them from any internet connection, and know that they are as well protected (backups, etc.) as our files are.

Management Level
Includes the Standard Level plus a financial toolbox for Executive Directors and Treasurers. The financial toolbox has online ledger with double entry accounting, financial statements, check printing, purchase and sales orders, and time cards.

Provider Level
Includes the Management Level plus the capability to allow access by others to applications and data on your server. Lets you distribute the power of your server to any computer on your network.
