Alternatives
In case you're looking to shop around for alternatives, we'll share what we know about other providers. Comparisons are tricky, since we don't all offer exactly the same features. We try to keep up with their information, but can't promise these prices are up to the moment.
- The closest comparison we're aware of is DharmaTech, another nonprofit based in Salt Lake City, Utah. According to their hosting page, they charge for-profit clients a $500 setup fee and $125 monthly maintenance for a distribution similar to ours. They offer a discount to non profits, but we don't know how much. It does not appear that they host email or register domains names, which we do.
- If, like us, you're in the Twin Cities metropolitan area, the most similar organization is Advantage Labs. They provide a managed hosting plan that could be used like our standard plan. They charge a $35 setup fee and $70 monthly for the same content management system we use. They don't offer the same modules and don't offer our constituent relationship management system. We don't think they host email, which we do.
- If you have staff with the technical expertise to do so, you could 'Do It Yourself' at Dreamhost for about $8 monthly, or with GoDaddy for about $5 monthly. They'll host your site and let you install the same systems we use. They don't offer specific support for these systems, but we do.
